History

It all began in the room at the back of the pharmacy in Bielefield in 1891: A young pharmacist, Dr. August Oetker, was busy with his apothecary's weight, his pestle and various powders until late at night. This determined pioneer finally reached his aim and found a revolutionary solution to the problem of raising of all kinds of cakes, pies and pastries that are baked in oven: the Baking Powder!

Dr. Oetker established his first food production factory at the beginning of the 20th century. Through continuous progress, his activities soon extended to Western and Eastern Europe.

Having started with vanillin sugar and pudding, Dr. Oetker currently has 34 different establishments, including those in South America and Brazil, with a product range reaching 450 products.

The Dr. Oetker group is also active in various other fields such as beer, wine and champagne production, maritime trading, hotel business and financial services. Food, which is the group's key activity, is managed by Oetker International worldwide. The headquarters of Oetker International is located in Bielefeld.

Dr. Oetker Turkey was established in Izmir in 1987. In 1999, the company moved to its new facilities in Torbalı. Continuously expanding its product range, Dr. Oetker Turkey has currently reached over 137 different varieties of products including puddings, cake mixtures, baking powder, vanillin sugar, traditional Turkish desserts and deep-frozen pizza.
